Raku Bowl - Under the Tree

Raku Bowl - Under the Tree

This decorative raku fired bowl was forming my hand through rolling and pinching clay.

Raku is a low fired process loosely based on the traditional Japanese firings.

Raku roughly translates as ‘happiness in the accident’

I collected twigs, leaves and ivy vines from under a tree and gently rolled the bowl into the fallen greenery for imprinting detail.

Approx 16cm in width and 9cm in height

Please note this bowl cannot hold water or fluid as the process of raku will not reach a temperature which enough for food safety. Perfect as a decorative bowl.
