Raku Cottage & Bowl
Made by hand, with Earth and fire
I'm so excited to finally open my studio doors to this experience.
In the 2.5 hour beginners session you will make and illustrate/decorate a cottage and pinch pot bowl through hand building.

These sessions are a chance to step away from the everyday, to ground and connect with the Earth through clay and experience its therapeutic benefits as you get lost in the process of creating something truly beautiful (no wheel just hands)

It's a safe and calm environment that is absolutely perfect for complete beginners.
The workshop is held in our barn studio and in and around the gardens and woodlands at our studio and home near Chacewater, Truro.

Your pieces will be dried and fired to 950 degrees C.
I will then choose a date (weather dependent) to undertake to raku firing. If you are free you are welcome to come and observe your pieces being fired and take home.
Collection after or postage can be arranged at an additional cost.

Western Raku is loosely based on traditional Japanese ceramic low temperature firings. It's a harsh process working with natural elements and as with all ceramics comes with a risk of damage to your pieces, but raku maybe slightly more.
Raku roughly translates as 'Joy in the accident'.
Email carafitzmaurice@icloud.com or message on social media

The session is £45
The session will be held in small groups of up to 6 people.

The outside raku firing date will be arranged nearer the time as the firing is weather dependent.
